Quickstart

Install, set the credentials, make the first call.

Pick your client. The server runs locally over stdio, or through the hosted runtime.

Add the server to your clientOne config entry. No build step, no SDK required.
Set the environment variables2 variables read by this server's code, listed below.
Restart and make the first callThe agent can call any of the 21 tools. Try list_profiles first.
terminal
# Claude Code claude mcp add wise -e WISE_API_TOKEN=… -e WISE_ENV=… -- npx -y @codespar/mcp-wise@0.1.2 # then: /mcp to confirm the server is connected
Environment variables2 variables
WISE_API_TOKENWise Platform API token (Bearer). Issued per profile in the Wise dashboard.requiredsecret
WISE_ENVWise environment. 'sandbox' (default, https://api.sandbox.transferwise.tech) or 'live' (https://api.transferwise.com).optional

Names read from the package code (@codespar/mcp-wise@0.1.2). Descriptions and flags come from its manifest. Self-hosted, you hold the credentials. On the CodeSpar runtime the credential you connect is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM, key derived per organization), and the runtime adds it to the provider call itself; the agent never receives it.

Tools

What your agent can call.

21 tools, as the package's tools/list returns them.

list_profiles

List Wise profiles (personal + business) accessible to this API token. Most other endpoints are scoped to a profile id, so call this first to discover yours.

get_profile

Fetch a single Wise profile by id.

create_quote

Create a Wise quote β€” locked FX rate plus payment options for a sourceCurrency / targetCurrency pair. Provide either sourceAmount or targetAmount, not both. Returns the quote id used to create a transfer.

get_quote

Fetch a Wise quote by id (within a profile). Returns rate, fees, and available paymentOptions.

update_quote

Update a Wise quote (e.g. attach a recipient via targetAccount, or change payOut). Returns the updated quote with refreshed paymentOptions.

create_recipient

Create a Wise recipient (payout account). Required `details` fields vary by currency / country β€” discover them with list_recipient_account_requirements first.

get_recipient

Fetch a Wise recipient by id.

list_recipients

List Wise recipients on a profile, optionally filtered by destination currency.

delete_recipient

Deactivate (soft-delete) a Wise recipient by id. The recipient is no longer usable for new transfers.

list_recipient_account_requirements

Discover required `details` fields for creating a recipient given a quote. Wise returns dynamic field schemas per currency / country / payout method (IBAN vs SWIFT vs local clearing, etc).

create_transfer

Create a Wise transfer using a quote and a recipient. Requires a customerTransactionId for idempotency. The transfer is created in incomplete state β€” call fund_transfer to debit the source.

get_transfer

Fetch a Wise transfer by id. Returns status (incoming_payment_waiting, processing, outgoing_payment_sent, funds_refunded, etc).

Names and descriptions come from the package's tools/list (@codespar/mcp-wise@0.1.2). A kind (read, write, delete) is shown only when the package annotates its tools or each tool was verified one by one; neither exists for this server yet.

Compatibility

MCP is a protocol. Any client that speaks it can mount this server.

Through the CodeSpar runtime, codespar_discover finds this server's tools, and a tools/call runs with the credential connected in your project, a test key included.

Questions

Before you install.

How do I install the Wise MCP server?

Run npx -y @codespar/mcp-wise@0.1.2 and add the config block above to your MCP client: Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code, or any MCP-compatible client. No build step, no SDK required. Prefer hosted? Add the CodeSpar endpoint with a test key and connect Wise in your project; codespar_discover finds its tools.

What can my agent do with Wise?

Wise exposes 21 tools for payments. Your agent calls them directly; the full list is above.

How does Wise authenticate, and how are credentials stored?

Wise uses API Key. Self-hosted, you hold the credentials: the server reads them from its environment variables. On the CodeSpar runtime the credential you connect is stored encrypted for your organization, and the runtime adds it to each provider call, so the agent never handles it.

How does Wise handle upstream API changes?

Every server is versioned independently on npm. The command on this page pins 0.1.2, the version whose tools are listed here; your agent keeps running it until you change the version.

Is Wise open source? How do I report a bug?

Yes. Wise is MIT-licensed and published on npm as @codespar/mcp-wise, source on GitHub (link in the Details panel). Report issues on the package repository; security issues go to security@codespar.dev, and we respond within 24 hours.

Start in seconds.

On the CodeSpar runtime, the credential you connect stays encrypted for your organization and the runtime adds it to each call. You just call the tool.

Create an account and copy a test key.
Add the hosted endpoint to your client with the config above.
Connect Wise in your project and ask your agent for the first call.
